The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies (GSBSPS) is partnering with Biomedical Sciences Graduate Student Association (BSGSA), Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, and Drexel Biomedical Graduate Association (DBGA) to bring back Careers Beyond the Bench, a professional development conference. The conference will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, February 23–24, in a virtual format from 1–6 p.m.. In addition, on Friday, February 25, we will offer in-person meetups with local professionals and on February 17, we will offer a pre-event workshop, "Networking in Virtual Environment."
Careers Beyond the Bench, a professional development conference, will feature accomplished speakers and panelists discussing non-academic career options for graduate students and postdocs. Attendees will learn about careers in the private sector as well as training strategies and career planning tools. We will offer panel discussions on medical and science communications, management consulting, medical science liaison and postdoc in industry. Additionally, we will offer workshops on exploring careers during graduate school, work-life integration and productivity, building a personal brand and more.

NETWORKING IN VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT

Virtual, pre-event workshop
In preparation for the virtual Careers Beyond the Bench conference, learn how to network in a virtual environment. Chris Miciek, MS, director, Career Development Center, Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) will share tips for how to prepare for the conference, what to do during the small breakout room discussion and networking, and how to continue and build these relationships after the conference.
